Poor weather, flooding and high gas prices aren’t expected to put a damper on Memorial Day travel plans, according to estimates by AAA which project 3.4 million people from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas will drive more than 50 miles away from their home over the weekend.
Though gas is about $1 from this time last year (ah, the good days), Arkansas News reports the state department of parks and tourism has gotten a steady stream of callers inquiring about parks and campgrounds closures. As of now several campgrounds have been closed due to flooding, but all state parks have managed to remain open.
