However, rather than eternal damnation, Catholics now have the chance to practice confession through the $1.99 iPhone application, “Confession,” which received the Pope’s blessing today, according to Reuters.

Confession, which involves admitting sins to a priest inside a confessional booth in exchange for the number of Hail Marys/Our Fathers required for absolution, is now possible through the application; although the Vatican still advises Catholics to actually go to a priest for absolution.

It’s all part of a push by Pope Benedict XVI to embrace technology within the ages-old religion. Taking in the scope of the 2009 Vatican YouTube Channel, the addition of the iPhone app certainly computes.
