Student athletes targeted in House

El Dorado’s own, Matthew Shepherd, a freshman in the Arkansas House of Representatives, is growing up. H.B. 1061 functions to “protect student athletes from unscrupulous actions by athlete agents.” The bill proposes new definitions as to who can perform actions as an athletic agent and outlines when and how an agent needs to contact the school prior to approaching the student athlete with an offer, as well as the conditions of acceptance by the student.
