Testimony began this morning in the capital murder trial of Vadarian Meadows of Junction City.
Meadows is charged, along with two other Junction City residents, with capital murder, breaking or entering and theft of property in relation with the shooting death of Clarence Ritchey, also of Junction City, on Dec. 23, 2009.
Ritchey’s widow, Janet, and stepdaughter, Melissa Jackson, were the first two to be called to the stand. Testimony will continue through this afternoon.
If convicted Meadows could be facing life in prison without parole as the prosecution decided early on not to seek the death penalty.
