DREAM Act gets religious support

Yesterday Arkansas Catholic, the official newspaper of the dioscese of Little Rock, printed a release strongly urging Catholics in Arkansas to support the DREAM Act — a piece of legislation the Senate will vote on later this week after the House passed the act 216 to 198 on Dec. 8.

The DREAM Act tip toes around the touchy immigration subject and no one seems to be in the middle, with extremes on both sides shouting loudly over the issue. The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act would allow illegal immigrants brought to the country as children to become citizens if they complete two years of college or two years enlisted in the military.
