South Korean anxiety rises

Tensions between North and South Koreans following the shelling which killed two marines and two civilians on the South Korean’s island of Yeonpyeong on Tuesday, spiked again this morning when artillery fire was heard from the Northern island of Pyongyang.

As opposed to Tuesday, however, the fire remained inside North Korean boundaries though government officials from the North stated that a United States-South Korea alliance to push forward with a military exercise near Northern boundaries, could push the two Koreas into a full-out war.

The joint training exercise is set to take place on Sunday in the Yellow Sea near the attacked island and is to include a number of ships as well as the American aircraft carrier George Washington.
