“Main Street News,” a national publication, has featured El Dorado in their latest issue. Click here to download it as a PDF file.

As you may remember, El Dorado received a Great American Main Street Award recently. Selected by a nationwide jury of 10 community development experts, each of the winners has proven that incremental progress — and persistence — is essential to create economic vitality, a unique sense of place, and a greater commitment to community by all of its residents, according to Main Street News.

Kudos to Mark Givens, director of Main Street El Dorado, and his team for their work in promoting our fair city. Congratulations.

Great exposure. “The closure of Mellor Park Mall,” however, seems to be a little ahead of its self. While not the thriving mall of the 80’s, the Mall is still open. Downtown is, indeed, a treasure.

I agree with the previous post. I actually believe Wal-Mart remained in the mall until late 1995 or early 1996. The information of Mellor Park Mall closing in 1994 is inaccurate because even today stores remain in the Mall. Really hate they mislead the target audience to try to impress. The sad part is they didn’t really need any help because they are correct in the fact the downtown area is alive and booming.
