Gwatney shooting receives national attention

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Below, the cover of today’s New York Post. I know by now everyone is probably a little over-saturated with news about State Democratic Chairman Bill Gwatney’s death. I did want to mention that I had interviewed Gwatney several times, and he was a very knowledgeable and helpful person.

In fact, in what became one of Gwatney’s last e-mails to state Democrats, he predicted that Barack Obama would pick a running-mate this weekend.

There really aren’t many new details about the incident. We may never know why it happened.

Today’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is reporting that Dale Johnson, 50, of Searcy, was the shooter. He had reportedly been fired from a Conway Target store after scrolling graffiti on a wall there.

An Ohio man put an $8,000 down payment on a new Chevrolet truck with coins. He wrote a check for the rest. Click here for more. He said that he doesn’t trust banks, and paper money burns.

Bet he never had trouble finding change for the coke machine.
