Completely out of hand
The Junction City forum on the web site “Topix” — just Google it, because we don’t want to link to such trash here on Between Editions — has crossed the line.
Folks on there are spouting such utter bunk that I can no longer ignore it.
A gentleman inquired about El Dorado on the forum and asked members if there were any wrestling teams in our area — his son is on a team in Texas.
Many on the site responded with uneducated, hate-filled remarks about the man’s son. Some even went so far as to suggest that the boy might be a homosexual because he likes to wrestle.
These are the same people who are spreading lewd comments about those running for certain offices here in the county.
To these people I say this: It is so unfortunate that you are allowed to express your ignorant views on the Internet. You are not only doing harm to yourselves, but to our community as a whole.
What do you hope to accomplish by talking like a fifth grader who has just learned new words from a bathroom stall? Respond to that, dear Topix bloggers.

That topix website is bad news for every town. It has just turned into a racist, who can be the rudest, crudest, meanest person competition. You have the Anti-Blacks, Anti-Whites, Anti-Bush, Anti-Living Period people on there trying to convince the world that their way is the only right way and everyone else is out to get them and they are bashing everything and everyone under the sun trying to do it. It is such a shame that there isn’t better moderation on that site or something.

unfortunately that is the way of the web and free speech at work. i looked at the site the first time it was mentioned here and found myself sickened. it is sad to look at the paper this week and all that is being done to promote tourism in this area and then know that there is such trash on the web associated with our communities. it is just pathetic what some people will waste their time on.

I did Google for the site and am a little confused.
Didn’t find the topic under the Junction City forum but under the El Dorado forum.
Some of the comments in the topic are ridiculous and seem to be posted by people who list their location as El Dorado. Why attribute them to Junction City?
