Looking up in the stands on Sunday as the Tennessee Lady Volunteer basketball team played LSU, one thing was quite clear: The arena in Tampa, Fla., was half-empty.
How sad, I thought, that thousands of people were missing out on such an exciting event. The Vols won on a last minute buzzer beater to earn a spot in the NCAA Women’s Finals. They’ll be playing Stanford for the national title.
The young women who play sports may not receive the same recognition as their male counterparts, but they are no less talented or deserving. I salute them.
