Scientists find earliest known recording

The New York Times has a great piece on a French recording that predates any known recording made by humans. It was found in France and was made by a special machine that recorded voice waves onto paper.
Today’s scientists have translated those waves into audible sound. It’s really very eerie when you hear it.
It’s barely audible, but considering it was made in 1860, well before any recording equipment was manufactured, that’s to be expected.
The Times offers audio of the recording on their web site. Click here for more.
