Word is…

We’ve been hearing through the thick, unpreened grapevine that Applebee’s may be moving out of El Dorado and that an IHOP may be moving in. We’re trying to confirm or deny this information. What a shame it would be to replace one restaurant with another. I think El Dorado could use an additional restaurant. Heaven knows we don’t need another one to close.
Anyone else heard anything about this?

You’ve touched a nerve here and I’ve got to rant.
If Applebee’s were to close I would barely notice its passing. The three times I’ve been there the food and service were deplorable. I don’t understand why the parking lot is always full. If the parking lot is full, why would they close???
An IHOP wouldn’t be a good replacement. We already have enough great locally owned restaurants that serve the same fare. Johnny B’s has the world’s greatest, lightest, tastiest, most delightful Belgian waffle. The bacon-n-egg combos are great too.
What Eldo needs is something like a Dixie Cafe. If someone could con the Town House into staying open for supper, they would fill the need, but they need a brighter interior and more parking for the evening meal. Can you work on that Town House?
While I’m ranting about locally owned restaurants, I have to put in a plug for two burger joints. Run away, run away, from the national burger chains and hie thee to either Catfish Corner or the Old Fashioned, whichever side of town you happen to be on when the burger attack strikes. Catfish Corner has the most magnificent burgers you can wrap your lips around. Excellent!
I guess the point of my rant is to support our locally owned eateries and not bemoan the fact we don’t have a lot of national chains. Support the little guys!
